birthday party

Last weekend was filled with parties! On Saturday we were off to help my youngest cousin celebrate graduating from high school. I must admit it reminds me that I'm getting older (not always a fun felling), I remember when Austin was Mikayla's age!
Then Sunday it was time for a birthday party, for both the girls!
Of course when it comes to the girl's and their birthdays there is no shortage of presents!
A fun craft box, just in time for summer.
Once again Mikayla didn't really care about opening presents at first. When she did take the time to check one out it was pretty cute.
Check out the new sunglasses!
An Easy Bake Oven! I had one of these as a kid and now Jennifer gets to have one. She is going to love making treats in it.
After opening these for her new oven Jennifer walked around asking everyone if they wanted cookies or cake, she asked everyone about five times before moving on to another present, like I said she is going to love this!
Mikayla taking her sweet time.
A new pair of shoes, I love that she is trying to put them on. Although she would prefer to not wear shoes it is cute that she wanted to try!
My cowgirl in a new hat!
Taking some time to play in a box. Really open more presents, why?
I suppose if I have to see what's in here I will.
We are a little behind the times but Jennifer is in love with High School Musical. If you ask her who her best friend is she will often tell you several of the people from this movie, she is kind of funny about it. We have seen all three but only own the first one so for she was pretty excited to open up 2 and 3. There was jumping up and down and yelling! Oh the excitement!
Time to sing Happy Birthday to the girls. Another one of Jennifer's favorite things.
Mikayla getting to enjoy a little bit of cake and ice cream.
She is such a good sharer!
Thanks to all our sweet family for making the girls' birthday party a fun day. They are very lucky to have so many wonderful people who love them dearly.

summer's here

Friday was the last day of school for Jennifer. So that means that today marked our first day of summer vacation!! I must admit it was kind of a crazy first day but we are looking forward to fun summer days ahead!
Jennifer is all smiles on her last day of school. Although I don't think she really gets yet that she won't be going to school for a while. And she keeps asking about kindergarten! Kindergarten round-up was last week and this girl loved it!

The last day of preschool, one of those bittersweet days as a parent. Jennifer has had a great year at preschool and she had great teachers, not just this year but all three years of preschool. Although I know she is ready for kindergarten it is hard to think about her moving onto another phase in her little life.
Preschool is done, summer has begun, let the fun begin!!

6 years old

I had this posted once already and well it disappeared! Something was wrong with blogger and so I lost the post. So I will try, try again!

Today was an exciting for Jennifer, she turned 6!! We have been talking about it for weeks, the big birthday. If Jennifer would have had her way she would have had about six birthdays in the past month! Today was kind of a busy day so we celebrated her birthday a little yesterday.

I love that she had to help make her birthday cake! I do think she really only likes to help so that she can lick the beaters when we are done.
After church we headed to our favorite local restaurant. We went to celebrate Mother's Day and Jennifer's birthday (let's be honest it was really more for Jennifer's birthday than it was for me). As much as it embarrassed Bill and I we decided to have them sing to Jennifer for her birthday. She of course loved it! She also got to wear a very stylish hat and got ice cream.

Later in the afternoon some friends stopped by to help us celebrate Jennifer's birthday. She was so very excited to have some of her favorite people come over and celebrate with her. When we set the cake on the table, she climbed up on the chair and said, "Ok everybody sing Happy Birthday to me!"
Jennifer with some of her favorite people ever! These sweet kids are amazing with Jennifer (and Mikayla) and she loves, loves them!

Today we had a few presents for Jen to open. I'm pretty sure I say it all the time but I do love that it doesn't matter what she opens she is excited for anything.

A birthday picture with one more of her favorite people, dad!
All in all I think Jennifer thought her birthday was pretty great!
I know everyone says it all the time during birthdays but I do have to say it is hard to believe that my baby is six today! The time has gone by so quickly...

egg hunt

It is already May so I realize I am a little behind with this post. Bill was gone last week at school and we are trying to get things back to normal around here. So here are some pictures of the egg hunt that Bill's family had, over two hundred eggs were filled and hid around the yard, crazy!
All the kids have their baskets and are ready to go!
However before everyone can run and find eggs a picture must first be taken.
Mikayla is not really sure what all the excitement is about. I think she is wondering why the rest of the kids ran off leaving her behind. Although I don't think she really minded.
Grandma Sue was not about to let Mikayla not have any fun so she was off with Mikayla finding eggs. They got quite the haul too!
The eggs were up high, down low and everywhere in between.
Jennifer had a great time running around finding eggs. It was fun to watch her running around with excitement.

Now that all the eggs have been found it is time to count them and see how many we got.
Mikayla loved taking the eggs out and putting them back in her basket.
Jennifer counting her eggs with dad.
After counting the eggs it was time to open them all and see what was inside. Mikayla is trying a peep that was inside one of her eggs.

"What is this thing I just put in my mouth?!" I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of peeps, although I have a few friends who love, love them, I can see why Mikayla made this face.
But then again wait, maybe this isn't so bad after all.
It is hard to believe that May is already underway. The next few weeks are busy, we have birthdays coming up, kindergarten round-up, birthday parties, graduation parties to go to, and the last day of preschool. Hopefully with all the craziness that is going on this month I will be able to keep up on our happenings along the way.
