Trunk or Treat

Tonight we held our first Trunk or Treat event at the church. It was a great time! If you have never heard of trunk or treat, people decorate the trunks of their vehicle in a parking lot and kids go around from car to car collecting candy. A lot of kids came through the parking lot and a lot of candy was given away!
Before the fun could start there was lots of work that needed to be done. One thing was getting the candy ready to pass out. The wagon is completely full of candy and Jennifer decided she needed to catch a ride with all that candy! Thankfully her friend Brooklyn was willing to let her stay on for a ride.

Jennifer decided a while ago that she was going to be Cinderella and wear her pink longer dress. She was thrilled to see Ms. Leah dressed up as a princess too and in a purple dress besides! Leah was gracious enough to take a princess picture with my princesses.

The costumes you pick to wear are really suppose to go along with the theme you choose to decorate your vehicle in but that didn't happen for us. Our van was a beach theme with cowgirl princesses! Our friend's Chris and Rylee helped up decorate our van and hand out candy. Rylee was dressed up according to the theme of the van. The three girls ready to hand out and get some candy!

Jennifer loved, loved handing out candy, for a while anyway. She would not wait for the kids to make it to her she would make her way to them and started off by giving everyone two or three pieces of candy. It was kind of sweet to watch her. But after a while she had enough of me and joined a few cars down the way and spent most of the rest of the evening going back and forth (she really wanted to hang out at the real princess car). That was part of the fun though watching everyone have fun together!
It got kind of chilly out there tonight and by the time we got home my Kayla girl was done for. She didn't have a nap today and was just plain tired. But she was nice enough to let me take few more pictures before she had officially had enough.

Hope you all had a great time Trick or Treating, we sure did!

October

So October is quickly coming to an end and once again I have been bad about taking pictures! As I looked at my camera yesterday here is what I found:
A few weeks ago we went to visit our families for the day. Of course while visiting my parents Jennifer was certain she needed a ride on the mini-trail with Papa. It was a beautiful afternoon, a great day for a ride.
We have been trying to get Mikayla to ride with Papa too and usually she wants nothing to do with the mini-trail. But this particular day she thought she would give it a try! I think she liked it, not quite as much as her sister yet but it was a start.
One night last week the girls were all about playing in the dress up clothes. So here are my two princesses. Jennifer has declared this dress her costume for Trunk or Treat next week.

My princesses with their prince charming!
And some exciting news! Mikayla finally got a real big girl bed! We converted her crib to a day bed a long time ago and have been looking for a bed. We finally found a good deal on a mattress and were able to throw some sheets on and here she is! (It isn't girly pretty yet but that will come with time, she just needed the bed to start with!) She does look really small in there at night, all curled up sleeping.
Jennifer was pretty sure she was going to sleep with Mikayla in her new bed the first night. Thankfully she stayed in her own bed! But I do think Jennifer was more excited about Mikayla getting a new bed than Mikayla was.

And finally a few pictures of playing outside last night. It was kind of hot out yesterday, kind of crazy. We know we need to take advantage of the nice days while they last.

Hopefully it won't be so long until next time! We will be Trunk or Treating next week so stayed tuned for more of the princesses!

roller skating

I am a few weeks behind but two weeks ago we went roller skating with the LIFE Ministry. Always a very fun afternoon for everyone.
This year Mikayla was fairly certain she was going to skate too. Last year at this time she was not walking yet so skating wasn't really an option for her. So this year she was going to make sure she got in on the action. Bill got her the smallest skates they had, they were of course were way to big, but she got to put on skates and that made her very excited.
I helped her "skate" her way around the rink one time and that was good enough for her.
Of course dad managed to get her to go around one more time.
Then being pushed around one a little car seemed so much more fun. Don't you just love the huge skates sticking out to the side?
So here is my skating girl Jennifer. I did not get any good pictures of her skating, how sad I am.
Here is Jennifer pushing Mikayla around.
Dad helping Jennifer do the limbo.
Once Jennifer was out she of course thought she should help with the limbo.
And this picture has nothing to do with roller skating but it was taken the day before at the homecoming parade and I just like the picture. Jennifer and our friend Rylee.
