more Christmas

We had too many pictures to put all on one post so here are a few more...

Jennifer got a scooter for one of her gifts! She was very excited to get it. We can't wait until it is warm again so she can ride outside, until then she will ride it in the basement.
Jen's cousins got trikes so of course she thought she try those out as well.
Bill enjoying a game with the kids after present opening was done.

After a long weekend away Jennifer enjoyed some popcorn last night, popcorn from the new popcorn popper and a new fun popcorn bowl! What a great Christmas our family had!

Christmas

After a busy, busy weekend we are home and finding spots for all of our Christmas goodies. While it is always fun to spend time with family and be away from home for a few days it is always just as good to get home. The girls are exhausted after so much fun with family!

Our fun started Christmas Eve morning with the girls opening presents. Jennifer was of course very excited, Mikayla I think could have cared less, the joys of being a six month old.
We can't take credit for this gift, in fact it wasn't really suppose to be a gift but we wanted to watch Jennifer open it, knowing this would be the reaction. What is it you ask? It is Cinderella, not the cartoon but the people version. This is Jennifer's favorite movie right now. We actually have it on video but our vcr does not always work that great so I gave my mom the mission of finding it on dvd, which of course she did. Mama gave the movie to Jennifer a few weeks ago but Bill decided we should hide it away and wrap for a gift. Her reaction was worth it!!
Spoons, how exciting?!
Christmas Eve afternoon we arrived at Mama and Papa's house and of course they thought it was necessary for Jennifer to open a present right away. Another great present, a new popcorn popper!! (Our other one was getting old and had a broken leg.)
Christmas morning, ready for the fun and presents to begin!
Hot potato! Who knew this little game could be so much fun. Jennifer and her two cousins each got one. This little game halted present opening for a good twenty minutes while the potato was passed around the living room.
Mikayla enjoying the fun of her first Christmas!
Sweetly waiting to be told she can open presents.
The best present of the year by far, our sweet Mikayla Jo!!

Christmas card

We do not send out Christmas cards, I sort of stink at that stuff, although I must admit I do love getting everyone else's! But if we were to have sent out pictures this year these are a few that would have made their way onto the card.

I love this picture. Jennifer is reading to Mikayla a book and it looks as if Mikayla is following along with her sister.

snow day

These pictures are slightly late but they are from the first big snow a couple of weeks ago.
Jennifer insisted that she go outside to help shovel, so I bundled her up so she could go outside for all about two minutes.
The drift in our driveway was very big. Bill was really wishing that we had a snowblower at this point. (we do have one now but Bill is in the process of trying to get it working, maybe before another storm hits he will be ready)
The rest of our snow day we just hung out. Jennifer thought it would be fun to get into bed with Mikayla. A cute picture!
I love this picture. Bill reading to the girls in Mikayla's room. If you look closely you will notice that Mikayla is actually sleeping!
These are pictures from some sledding fun that happened this afternoon. Jennifer is getting a little too big for this sled but she had fun none the less.

fun pictures

A few funny pictures to share...

Jennifer enjoying some ice cream, while Mikayla watches.
Mikayla sporting Jennifer's hat. She is pretty cute in it!
Pizza anyone? Mikayla was sitting in her bumbo chair while we were eating pizza and Bill put her on the bench beside him, so of course we had to take pictures of her "eating" with us.
She's about ready to sit at the table, don't you think?
The girls both got bears from Build-A-Bear for Christmas. The next several pictures are of the girls and their bears.

The sunglasses really go on the bear but of course Jennifer thinks it is sort of fun to wear them.

Jennifer giving her sister a little kiss.

Christmas (already?)

We had our first Christmas over the weekend. It was a little early but with every one's busy schedules it was the best time, even though it was a bit early it was still a great time to be together.

Mikayla's first Christmas!! To be perfectly honest though, I don't think she really cared that it was her first Christmas. In fact as one point she took a little nap. Here she is checking out her stocking. Jennifer helped her get everything out, of course.
The girls each got very cute bears as a present. These sunglasses were on Jennifer's bear and of course Jennifer tired them on and we thought it was only fair to give Mikayla a turn too.
"Hmm, what am I suppose to do with this thing?"
All of the kids got Hawkeye sweatshirts from the great-grandparents. How cute that they are all matching?! I think it is sweet. (Sort of hard to get four small children to all sit nicely for a photo, there are lots of people trying to get them all to look and smile.)
Each year Aunt June truly gives the best gifts. This year she really out did herself. She got up very early the day after Thanksgiving to get everyone snuggies. I know you have seen the commercials and know what I am talking about. These are not the snuggies that are seen on tv but rather a knock off, June would never think of getting anything that is the real deal, not her style at all. Here we are one big happy snuggie family!
The whole family posing for the annual photo. (Quickly, set the timers and run into position before the picture is taken.)
The fun is just beginning! One Christmas down, lots to go!

winter days

I think winter has officially set in. As I type there is lots of snow falling and blowing around outside our window. As the cold set in last week we decided it was finally time to break out the winter apparel. Here is Jennifer showing off her new winter coat, with matching hat and scarf.
Of course she needed to get a picture with her dad.
Here is Mikayla's lovely winter apparel. I must admit I do love the little cover-up for the car seat. It keeps her really warm and I don't have to take the time to put one of those huge snowsuits on her. It is very sweet to get her out of the car, all you can see is her sweet little face with a huge smile!

popcorn

Sunday night is popcorn night at our house. We pop some popcorn, put a blanket on the living room floor and have popcorn as a family. I'm not sure who looks more forward to the time Jennifer or me. It seems Jennifer always knows when it is popcorn night too, she usually starts in the early afternoon asking for popcorn.
Bill and I were given this bowl for our wedding from a family we use to babysit for, they always had popcorn on Sunday nights too!
Lately we have been melting butter to put on our popcorn and here Jennifer is dipping a few pieces of popcorn in the bowl that we melt the butter in. I'm not really sure where she learned this little trick?!

Our popcorn bowl says"Popcorn is for sharing", if you are ever in the mood for some popcorn stop by our house, Jennifer and I are always in the mood to have some. It doesn't even have to be a Sunday!
