getting ready

Today was one of those days when stuff needed to made for the up coming weekend. And Jennifer loves to help out in the kitchen. And what better to wear to cook in then a dress! Jennifer thought she should wear a dress this morning and her dad, yes her dad, gave in and let her put one on.
I kept trying to get Mikayla to come out and help us but she was too busy dancing to the music on the living room. She didn't really care to help us out.
Then the moment Jennifer had been waiting weeks for, it was time to start bringing up the Christmas tree! Our poor tree has seen better years and so Bill usually does a little work to the top and as you can see Jennifer thought she would help as well.
Mikayla just loved being in on the action.
We are a little worried that this sweet girl is going to get the best of the tree this year. She may surprise us but we may end with the ornaments on only the top half of our tree.
I was trying to get Jennifer to smile nicely for me, this is what I got.
The is up but the decorating will have to wait until after the busy weekend. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

sick girls

Monday was a sick day out our house. Both the girls were sick. But Mikayla was the worst of the two. She didn't want to do a thing. Here she is laying on the couch for a little bit.
Jennifer always thinks she needs to make Mikayla feel better, which is very sweet. However, on this day Mikayla wasn't much up for the extra love.
Both the girls went to the doctor and were put on medicine. It really is amazing what a little antibiotics will do! Less then 24 hours later my Mikayla was back to her normal, crazy self!

that smile

I was looking at some pictures from over the weekend and this made me almost laugh out loud! This girl and her smile just make me laugh. She has got the whole "smile and say cheese" for the camera down.
Out of four kids she was the only one standing nicely looking at the camera and willing to cooperate. The other three kids were just being crazy! Thanks Kayla girl for smiling!

warmer days

As the days get colder and there is talk of snow tonight I thought I would remember some warmer days from a few weeks ago. When we could be outside playing and not worry about the cold.
Bill and the girls played in a pile of leaves while I mowed our yard one last time, this is from a month ago I do believe, it seems so long ago! Jennifer thought is was great to ride the bike into the leaves.
Mikayla is always excited to get to be in on the action!
Making funny faces for dad, Mikayla is checking out her sister to see what to do.
These pictures are from a few weeks ago, it was time to clean up the yard before the cold set in. Lots of leaves to be racked, even though we only have two small trees in our yard, it was crazy all the leaves we had!
The girls thought it was great to play in the leaves, in the back of the truck.

Mikayla helping out a little bit.
Where did Jennifer go?
Oh there she is buried by leaves!
We finally chopped down our sunflowers too. The size of them really is amazing.
This was the shorter of the two and it looked much pretty before it dried out.
I am hoping the snow stays away, at least for now, although I would have one happy and excited child if there was snow on the group in the morning.

Christmas already?

Jennifer has been wanting to sing Christmas songs for the past few weeks. Bill has been refusing to sing along with her. He keeps telling her it is too early for Christmas songs. This morning as I was getting the girls dressed Jennifer asked to sing "O Christmas Tree". I gave in and sang along, telling her that we couldn't tell dad! This afternoon during rest time she started watching a Christmas movie. She then asked Bill to go to the basement for the Christmas tree! She went to the basement for a few minutes then came up to get Bill. When I went down a few minutes later here is what I found:
Jennifer found the boxes with the decorations and opened one up.
Bill found this small (very sad) tree and put it up for Jennifer, not sure what the scarf is about!
I asked Jennifer if I could take her picture by her tree, here is what I got. This is the smile she would like to use for all pictures right now. Gotta just smile.
Then her and Bill were playing school and just in case you wondered the weather, every time, had to be snow!
I am not ready for Christmas or for snow but someone in our house is really ready for it all! It is cute but I don't think I can give in to the cuteness just yet and bring up the big tree, we have to wait just a few more weeks!

a shiner & crazy clothes

Bill decided that he would join Jennifer at school Friday for lunch and recess. Then the school was going to go for a walk so Bill stuck around for that as well. When Bill got home from his activities at the school the first thing I noticed was that he was holding Jennifer's glasses. So of course I inquire about this fact. He held them out for me to see, the one side was bent and scratched up. "Oh no, what happened?" was my response. "If her glasses look like this, what do you think her face looks like?" was his response.
There was a collision, followed by a pile up on the ground and Jennifer happened to be on the bottom of the pile. Bill said Jennifer instantly started crying and if you know Jennifer it takes a lot for her to just cry so Bill knew she was hurt. I didn't take the pictures until the next day and she looked a ton better then the day it happened! She does have some bruises on and around her eye. She was a trooper though and has done well.

And today as she walked out of the house for school I was having a hard time breathing. Really was I letting my child go to school dressed like this?!
I was, it was killing me! But the kindergartners have been talking about patterns and today was pattern day. The kids were suppose to wear as many patterns as possible, even if that meant being mismatched! So we went all out everything from her hair-ties to her shoes had a pattern on it. Jennifer thought it was silly and loved it so that was all that mattered!

Before Jennifer got her fun socks on Mikayla thought she should try them on.
This girl has been a ham lately!

a weekend with my girls

This weekend was a weekend spent with my girls. I guess you could call it a girls weekend out. Bill was gone at a conference for a few days so my mom was sweet enough to join the girls and I for some fun.
Friday after Jen got out of school we were off to a hotel for some swimming fun! Both the girls were pretty excited about being about to play in the water.
Jennifer did this little slide a few times but really what she wanted to do was go down the big slide. So her and I grabbed a tube and off we went. She loved it and would have gone down a hundred times! It really was too bad Bill wasn't there because he would have gone down a hundred times with her. I was only up for about fifty times.
Mikayla was content to just play with mama in the zero depth part, where she could just crawl around.
Getting sprayed by the big elephant.
My attempt at a picture of the girls together, both were being a little goofy, if you couldn't tell.
After a busy day it was time to get ready for bed.
Or maybe this silly girl wasn't quiet ready for bed yet.
The next day Jennifer needed to make sure she was well rested before a very fun day unfolded.
Mikayla was ready to go before she even got dressed.
After a little shopping and a quick lunch we were off to a big surprise for the girls. We were off to see Barney Live! Jennifer could not have been more excited, it really was sweet. And yes I must admit I was a little excited, I was excited to watch my girls!
I don't think I could put into words how much Jennifer loved this! Our seats ended up being perfect for her. She was able to stand on a step in front of our seats in the whole time, she sang and danced pretty much the entire time. I loved watching her!

Mikayla loved it too! Here she is singing with mama.
Mikayla loved the music but she also loved the popcorn!
And yes I was suckered into one of those, not so cheap, souvenirs for my smiling child.

Bill got home shortly after we did Saturday evening. The girls were very happy to see dad. After a busy weekend Mikayla was thinking she needed a little more to eat.
Jennifer on the other hand could have talked to Bill all night. She filled him in on everything we had done for our fun girls weekend. She talked and talked, it was really fun to listen to her. She did not leave anything out and the smile on her face let us know she had a great time.
Thanks to my girls, mama, Jennifer and Mikayla, for a fun time!
